这是我大概在1978年左右创作的连环画，于1985年出版发行。故事内容讲的是拿破仑率军大败俄奥联军。安德烈高举军旗冲锋，虽身负重伤仍坚守信念，战后被法军留医，见证战争的残酷与英雄的悲壮。

以写实为基础，融汇速写与版画艺术的表现手法，运用刚劲有力的黑白线描塑造出极具张力的战争场景。画面采用粗细变化丰富的墨线交织，结合大面积黑白对比，使人物、硝烟与废墟形成强烈的视觉冲击，营造出炮火纷飞、硝烟弥漫的战场氛围。

Introduction

Lost Memories, Unfinished Love

Thérèse, the owner of a café on the banks of the Seine River in France, accidentally discovers that a homeless wanderer bears a striking resemblance to her husband, Abel, who disappeared sixteen years earlier.

Again and again, she tries to awaken his memory through shared recollections, old friends, and familiar music. However, she gradually realizes that the trauma of war has erased his past, leaving him a man without memories, drifting through life as a vagrant.

Although she is never truly reunited with her husband in the way she had hoped, Thérèse never abandons her faith. She continues to wait, believing that one day he may recover his lost past and return to himself.

Artistic Style

This work possesses a highly distinctive visual style and differs significantly from Wang Kewei’s other creations. Executed entirely in pen and ink, it is neither a traditional meticulous Chinese comic-book style nor the photo-reference tracing approach that later became popular.

莱特湾海战（Battle of Leyte Gulf）是第二次世界大战中最大规模的海战之一，发生于1944年10月，地点在菲律宾附近海域。讲的是日本海军为了阻止美军登陆菲律宾，发动的一场“最后大决战”。当时美军准备夺回菲律宾，因为菲律宾对日本非常重要，是资源运输线关键位置。失去后，日本本土会越来越孤立。于是日本决定“拼命也要阻止美军登陆”结果日本海军遭到毁灭性打击，从此基本失去大规模海战能力。

The Battle of Leyte Gulf was one of the largest naval battles of World War II. It took place in October 1944 in the waters near the Philippines. The story depicts the Japanese Navy’s “final decisive battle” in an attempt to stop the U.S. military from landing in the Philippines.

At the time, the United States was preparing to retake the Philippines, which was of critical importance to Japan as a key route for transporting strategic resources. Once lost, Japan itself would become increasingly isolated. As a result, Japan launched a desperate operation to prevent the American landing. However, the Japanese Navy suffered devastating losses, effectively losing its ability to wage large-scale naval warfare thereafter.

This lianhuanhua adopts a classic black-and-white pen-and-ink style, using dense yet rhythmic hatching lines to construct a tense atmosphere of war. The composition carries strong dramatic impact: groups of figures are interwoven with warships, aircraft, explosions, and smoke, creating a sense of oppression and historical tension. The facial expressions are rendered with concise yet powerful strokes, while the handling of shadows and contours gives the characters a vivid sense of period atmosphere and emotional intensity.

This story is adapted from the novel of the same name by the renowned American writer Jack London (1876–1916).

Rivera is a Mexican youth who appears cold on the outside but is passionate at heart. On the eve of an armed uprising, the revolutionary committee faces a shortage of funds. For the cause of his country’s liberation, Rivera volunteers to raise money. Without informing his comrades, he secretly enters a match against the famous American boxer Danny. Despite being at a clear disadvantage, Rivera fights on with unwavering loyalty to his country and revolutionary cause, and with deep hatred toward his enemies. After enduring numerous setbacks, he ultimately defeats his powerful opponent through perseverance and courage, using the prize money to purchase weapons and support the uprising.

This series is rendered in a classic black-and-white line drawing style, using expressive and varied lines to construct form, while hatching and tonal blocks are employed to build light and shadow. The overall style combines realism with elements of simplification and exaggeration, ensuring structural accuracy while enhancing dramatic tension and visual impact.

Lianhuanhua (Comic) Work “Kagemusha (Shadow Warrior)” by Wang Kewei was published in the November 1984 issue of Fuchunjiang Pictorial.

Description

The story is set in Japan’s Sengoku period. After Takeda Shingen dies, his retainers, in order to stabilize the army and conceal his death, find a thief who closely resembles him to serve as a “kagemusha” (body double). This substitute is gradually drawn into the vortex of power, war, and identity, eventually beginning to live as another person.

The work primarily uses pen-and-ink as its medium, building strong visual tension through dense hatching and bold black-and-white contrasts. The faces are rendered with fine, rhythmic cross-hatching, creating a sense of weight and volume, and imbuing the figures with historical depth and emotional intensity.

Large areas of black are treated almost like silhouettes, forming a striking contrast with the blank spaces and enhancing the composition and decorative quality of the image. Meanwhile, the lines vary in thickness across different areas: the contours are decisive and forceful, while internal structures are expressed through variations in density to suggest light and shadow, adding spatial depth.

不久，徐天华家中突然破产，处境变得艰难。得知这一消息后，金莲对他的态度逐渐转冷，不再像以前那样期待他的来信，甚至把他的信件当作废纸处理。妹妹玉莲偶然发现了这些信，从中读到了徐天华真挚而痛苦的心声。出于同情，她悄悄模仿姐姐的笔迹，替金莲给徐天华写信，希望安慰远方的他。

The story follows Jin Lian, a saleswoman working in an antique shop, who comes into contact with many foreign books and magazines through her job. These publications awaken in her a longing for the outside world. Through a relative’s introduction, she meets Xu Tianhua, a young overseas Chinese man. The two begin corresponding frequently, and their relationship quickly grows closer. However, when they start discussing their future, their views differ: Xu Tianhua hopes to return to China and settle down, while Jin Lian dreams of going abroad to experience life overseas.

Soon afterward, Xu Tianhua’s family suddenly goes bankrupt, leaving him in a difficult situation. After learning this news, Jin Lian gradually becomes cold toward him. She no longer looks forward to his letters and even treats them like discarded paper. Jin Lian’s younger sister, Yu Lian, accidentally discovers the letters and reads Xu Tianhua’s sincere and painful words. Moved by sympathy, she secretly imitates her sister’s handwriting and writes back to Xu Tianhua in Jin Lian’s name, hoping to comfort him from afar.

However, this “ghostwritten” reply quietly begins to change the fate of several people, and what once seemed to be a simple love story gradually turns into a more complex and twisting tale.
